Preworkshop: Creating a Labyrinth

         Joe Miguez


Participants will xplore the concept, symbol and metaphor of the Labyrinth. They will learn about its History; How2 draw a 7 circuit Classic labyrinth and how to apply this ancient emergent technology to today's life style and beyond. Participants will also leave with an Action Plan and Direction for Implementation based on the Clarity of Reflection. You are invited to join us on the Master Platform for performance and Xcellence.

    Brynne Ann Besio & Marc Smith
  • Learn about how the Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast, FL planned and built this wonderful facility – an amazing story that involves the application of creativity and problem solving.  
  • Tour the new LEED (Leader in Environmental and Energy Design) Certified campus. 
  • Consider how you might make positive environmental changes in your own spaces.
     
 
  • Awaken Your Senses
      
    Clare Dus

What do you smell in the air?  Right now?  Are you surprised by what you noticed?  Everyday we are given the opportunity to experience a sensory shin-dig however most of us choose to ignore the party literally under our noses.  This session will give you a chance to stimulate your senses, re-discover that party and enrich your life.
 
 
  • Nine Pathways to Creative Leadership
        K.T. Connor

Leadership is often an elusive concept and we encounter different dimensions of what it involves, depending on the author we’re reading.  This session presents an approach to leadership, which reveals 9 essential dimensions that are organically connected and logically derived. Participants will:

  • Understand a way to look at leadership as an integral, organic whole
  • See the connections between a logical view of leadership and creativity
  • Experience the diverse views people have of leadership and how they relate
  • Apply their learnings to OD interventions, team building, coaching, and staffing
  • Apply the learnings to their own development
     
 
  • Silent Stories, Mime & Improv
      
     Robert Alan Black

Do you think in actions, movements, body language? Can you communicate without using spoken words?  Do you want to explore immediate creativity?  Then this session focused on non-verbal creativity is for you. Participants will gain:

  • Awareness that they can creatively communicate without spoken words
  • A few basic improv acting skills
  • Techniques for telling silent stories
  • Ways to make their future creative thoughts visual without words or drawings
     
 
  • You are the Colours You Choose
        Diane Kirchin
In this session on Aura Soma, participants will explore the meaning of colours, our reactions to them, and the power of colour in our lives, how colour influences our buying responses, and why our favorite colour isn't always our favorite colour. Colours will be chosen by each person from over a hundred different combinations presented. These choices reflect our being's needs and these will be discussed as they affect the different levels of our being: spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical. These interactions will explore the many enchanting meanings of colour and will be fun for all who attend.

  • Birth & Growth of a Creative Thinking Network
      
     David Tanner
Come learn the story of how a group of seven DuPont company employees nucleated a creativity network called OZ.  Twelve years later the network had grown to over 800 people.  The bi-products of this network included a cartoon book, “Are We Creative Yet?” and the Educator Network of Delaware. Consider how you might apply this ‘model’ in your own life. Examples of how certain powerful creative thinking tools have been successfully applied in industry and in education will also be shared.
 
 
  • Creative Expression & Healthy Aging
        Anthony Hyatt

Come see a short video of the Quicksilver senior citizen improv dance company.  Afterwards we’ll discuss the health value of artistic activities for ourselves and the people we love.  Then you’ll have the opportunity to participate in gentle creative movement. Participants will:

  • Challenge negative assumptions about the creative abilities of seniors.
  • Increase awareness of opportunities to enhance health, self-worth and joy.
  • Experience the value of each individual’s creativity regardless or age, background, or experience.
     
 
  • KAI: Understanding Your Problem Solving Style
       
    Susan Robertson

This interactive workshop introduces the Kirton Adaption-Innovation (KAI) Theory and Inventory, a personal assessment tool which will help you understand and value different problem-solving styles.  Adaption-Innovation (A-I) theory is used by organizations worldwide in addressing issues such as restructuring, teamwork and conflict management.  It is equally effective for addressing style differences in personal relationships.  You will:

  • Take the KAI inventory
  • Learn about A-I theory and use it to assess your own creativity and problem solving style
  • Participate in a variety of individual and group exercises to enhance your understanding of the theory.
  • Gain insight into how your style impacts your personal and work relationships.
  • Appreciate the importance of leveraging all styles of creativity
  • Understand the impact of AI theory in working with teams and organizations.
     
 
  • Kaleido-Photos: An Exercise in Reflection
       
    Kitty Heusner
During this session Kitty will share a process to turn photographs into kaleidoscopic images.  A number of these ‘kaleido-photos’ will be on display.  Then, using a simple reflective device, participants will play with discovering new reflective images as well as applying this fun visual experience to reflection through writing and dialogue.
 
 
  • Your Creative Genius is Just Outside of Where  You are Looking
       
    Win Wenger

If what you’ve been paying attention to hasn’t solved your problem, then look at what’s just outside the focus of your attention and make some brilliant discoveries. Come adventure in the ‘Sidebands’ of your conscious awareness – a new technology just discovered in 2005.

Yoga is a wonderful way to stimulate creativity by awakening the potential creative energy and being comfortable in our bodies.  By focusing on hip openers and chest openers in the workshop, we can really stimulate our creative potential and open our hearts to fully express the energy.

  • Copper Wire Expression: A Sculpting Experience
       
    Marcia Schulte
Copper Wire Expression will be a fun experience for either experienced artists or novices. Using wire as a medium, we will create three-dimensional "sketches" that can be representational, abstract, or a flight of fantasy.  The main idea will be to express a feeling or mood. Many find that their work is quite playful. We'll have beads and some found objects to add. The goal is to have each participant go home with a finished wire sculpture that is 6-12 inches tall that they can enjoy and be proud of.
 
 
  • Diving Deep: Enriching the CPS Process With Music
       
    Lee Dunne & Anthony Hyatt

This session will immerse you in the use of music as a powerful tool to enhance the Creative Problem Solving process.  Using focused listening and musical selections from different cultures you will identify and work on a personal challenge with techniques which can be applied to other problem solving opportunities.
 

 
  • Portals for Perception: Exploring Ways of Knowing
       
    Kathy Leydon-Conway

We each have frames through which we typically perceive our world – ways of observing and making sense of our experience.  In this session, we will try out new frames, modalities through which we will explore our unconscious inner knowing about our outer world.  This is not about actively looking for answers, but is about allowing our knowing to flow from within.
 

 
  • WOW! A Wade in the Wetlands
        Russ Hoffman
     

Get rid of your Sci-Fi vision of 'the SWAMP'.  Join (naturalist) Russ Hoffman to take a wade in the wetlands. (Waders provided!)
         *Observe a Florida wetland with an expert's guidance.
         * Learn about the balance in an eco-system.
         *Consider how you might use this experience in your own environments.
