Tips for the Creative Brain Owner
Liz Monroe-Cook (Profile)
What’s the most important tool for your creativity? Your own brain, of course. The explosion of knowledge in neuropsychology and cognitive psychology has a lot to offer all of us brain owners when it comes to being creative and using thinking processes to their best advantage. In this workshop, we will explore some of these research-based insights in order to get better results from our creative thinking efforts, for example:
• Two major kinds of thinking processes and how they produce different results
• Why “intuition” isn’t all it’s cracked up to be
• Avoiding the pitfalls of overtaxing our brains
• Knowing how to manage the tension between divergent and convergent thinking
• Using the best of our brain’s functions and respecting its limits
We will be drawing information from established experts and authors in the field and taking the time to experience insights through direct experience during the workshop. You will come away with ideas about how to be the best “owner” your brain can have, and with renewed faith in your ability to shape your own thinking through awareness and experience.
