Min is a recognized world leader in the field of applied creativity with years of experience in building creative thinking, innovations and problem solving capabilities across organizations. His research-based work is noted for its applicability and scalability within organizations of all kinds.
     Educated in organizational psychology and engineering physics, Min began refining his insights about applied creativity at Procter & Gamble while working with teams developing new products and helping senior management engage employees at all levels in cost & profit improvement.
     Min has written many great books and he and his associates at Basadur Applied Creativity work with clients worldwide in the fields of aerospace, health, finance, software, microelectronics, telecommunications, food and beverage, publishing, energy, retail, manufacturing, e-commerce & more.

Amy Basic, a former engineer, executive and gallery owner, is an award-winning artist (also known as Amy Lee Segami) and a professional speaker. Applying the principles of physics, she has revived and transformed an ancient art form into a rich facilitation tool for innovation and team building. It has the rare formula of fluid physics, visual art, and cultural diversity.

   She has made presentations world-wide, from USA, Eastern Europe to Asia, conducted training workshops and delivered keynote speeches at conferences. Amy inspires others with her diverse background with over 20 years experience in the corporate, engineering, art, and education worlds. Today’s Chicago Woman called her as one of the  “Women Making A Difference.” Crain’s Chicago Business recognized her as one of the region’s finest leaders in her field. NPR and BBC Radio considered her work as a major accomplishment. She was invited to exhibit her art and program at the Fermilab of Department of Energy.

   A Chinese-born American, Amy earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology. She also studied many Asian traditional art forms. Her unique, distinctive paintings have won numerous awards. Marcia teaches full time online in the IT department for South University. She has a wonderful time living and learning and applying the many concepts learned from everywhere. Weekend: Mixing and integration activities; Saturday, 9:00 a.m.: Clowning - Connect with Successful Solutions while Just "Clowning Around."

In 1976 Alan received a letter about his oldest son, Jeff, qualifying for gifted education but his school had no program.  Within a month Alan became the volunteer teacher of the gifted at Plumosa Elementary in Delray Beach, FL. Over the next few months he read many books about teaching and learning. Then he took all the gifted education courses at FAU and discovered articles written by Dr. E. Paul Torrance about the measuring and teaching of creative thinking skills.

Then he met Bob Eberle, creator of S.C.A.M.P.E.R. and Dr. Dorothy Sisk, then US Director of Gifted Education at a workshop on Gifted Education in Orlando.  Eberle convinced Alan to attend CPSI, which he did in 1978 and his life was changed.  He completed a Masters of Education focused on the Guidance and Counseling of Gifted, Talented and Creative Individuals at Florida Atlantic University and then a Ph.D. at the University of Georgia with Dr. Torrance as his major professor. Over the past 34 years he has been a speaker, trainer, author, and consultant focused on the development of creative thinking traits, skills and tools throughout entire workplaces around the world.  Since he was 5 years old he has traveled to 49 US states and 77 countries. Since 1976 he has given over 3600 presentations from keynotes, lunchtime talks, workshops, training programs and university courses. Plus he has presented at over 130 creativity conferences around the globe, including the FCW several times.

Saturday: Getting from Red to Black-Journaling for Problem Solving in Professional Settings and The Masks we Wear
Ann Bracken is a writer and poet, an educator, and an expressive arts consultant. In addition, she holds certification in poetry therapy, journal facilitation, drama in education, and special education. Her work has appeared in Praxilla, The Museletter, The Little Patuxent Review, The Columbia Business Journal, On Purpose Woman, and The Baltimore Chronicle. Ann’s expressive arts consulting business, The Possibility Project, is devoted to providing arts-based programs for women in transition and for struggling students who flourish with alternative approaches to learning. She lives in Columbia, MD and has two grown children living in the Baltimore area.

Francine is a former Trainer, HR Director, Educator, and Consultant. Her doctorate and research interests and studies are in Organizational Leadership and Change.  Francine has taught Organizational Leadership and Change at Purdue University, University of Wisconsin, Dominican University, Keller Graduate School of Management and most recently, Argosy University. Over the past 30 years Francine has been involved in the design and development of leadership workshops, seminars, team dynamics and organizational assessments for corporate and not-for-profit organizations. Francine is the Past President of the USA U.N.WOMEN National Committee's Sarasota Chapter and serves as a board member in numerous Community organizations in Sarasota including the Girl Scouts of GulfCoast Florida.

Missy Goldwasser Carvin is the VP of Creativity Services for New Directions Consulting, Inc. and the Executive Director of the Avian Players Improv Workshop. With a BA in theatre and history from Hartwick College, she now works full-time in market research and new product development, of course. She has been involved in the CPSI community since 2004, and has served as the leader of CPSI Viral Marketing Team and as Captain of the America’s Giving Challenge effort for CEF. Missy is very fond of the Florida Creativity Weekend and has had good reasons for only attending twice since 2006. Notably, her daughter, Abby was born on Florida Creativity Weekend 2007 and has a birthday around the same time every year

Friday all-day: Jumpstart your Creative Thinking Skills - A One Day Introduction to CPS
A communicator for more than 30 years, Suzanne Chamberlain moved from television journalism to fundraising to strategic public relations. She earned degrees from the University of Massachusetts and the University of Missouri that had her reporting and anchoring for NBC affiliates in Jacksonville and Buffalo. She switched to media relations and marketing for non-profits, adding event planning, teaching and consulting to the mix. Her master’s degree from the International Center for Studies in Creativity at Buffalo State College expanded her repertoire to include facilitation and creative problem solving. Currently senior director of External Affairs at the University at Buffalo, she works in the Office of Economic Engagement using strategic communications to engender support for the university among external audiences

As a spiritual coach, consultant, and counselor Maria has spent two decades working with dozens of non-profit communities, including the Gandhi Foundation USA, India America Cultural Association, Soka Gakkai International, Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historic Site, Albany Civil Rights Movement Museum, and Morehouse College. As a public speaker, workshop facilitator, and transformational trainer she has traveled to churches, bookstores, conferences, and educational centers across the United States.

Her articles, essays, and meditations have been published in various magazines. She has self-published numerous books and manuals, and released two recordings of guided meditations. Saturday: Making Connections between Your Conscious and Unconscious Minds: Self Hypnosis and Creativity. 

Art is certified as a Master Practitioner and Trainer of NLP and Hypnosis by the 4 major hypnosis organizations in the US.  His practice includes (a) medical referral clients who experience distress not relieved by traditional treatment, (b) the mental game of sports success (such as tennis, golf, and baseball), (c) academic excellence for peak performance in study and testing, and (d) enabling creative solutions for the challenges of life.  Art is the HEAD Coach and Founder of U-Solutions LLC in Sarasota (the “U” stands for unconscious, where the most creative solutions reside).

Bruce Flye is a visual practitioner, blending the creative potential of graphic imagery with positive and strengths-based practices in planning, change and innovation. Bruce serves as the Director of Planning and Partnerships at the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University, and he also practices independently through bruceflye.com. A registered architect, Bruce has applied the principles of planning and design to the physical, academic and organizational aspects of higher education for 18 years. Since 2005, he has explored and developed his skills as an illustrator and graphic facilitator to design and lead engagements that are interactive, creatively-oriented and momentum-building.

Bruce has been trained by field leaders such as the Grove Consultants International, Roger Schwarz and Associates and the Society for College and University Planning. Recent clients include the Center for Creative Leadership, the National Association of College and University Food Service, the University of Scranton and Purdue University – Calumet.


Lynn Frankel

Lynn is a retired elementary school principal from a large suburban school district in New Jersey. Her educational expertise includes staff development for teachers, mentorship, and training in the areas of differentiated instruction, Emotional Intelligence and multiple intelligences, imagery, reflection, personal growth, Creative Problem Solving, Cooperative Learning, and instructional strategies.  Presently, she is working for Learning Plus, an organization that provides quality staff development programs specializing in differentiated instruction, assessment, strategies for diverse learners, collaborative teaching, and multiple intelligences to name a few.  Lastly, Lynn is most proud of being a facilitator/presenter for the Creative Problem Solving Institute and has facilitated workshops in CPS, developing leadership style, team building, mentoring, and tools and techniques of creativity.  Email: lwfrankel@aol.com

As executive director of the Center for Executive Leadership and Change (Daemon College, Amhurst, NY), John developed and directs the innovative master’s degree program. He is active with Leadership Buffalo and is an adjunct professor at the International Center for Studies in Creative Leadership (Buffalo State College). His doctorate is in education. A proud father and husband, John strives for creative, respectful and healthy balance in life.

Kaitlyn (Katie) French is currently a junior at Sarasota High School. She has passion for a plethora of things including competing on her Speech and Debate Team, being an active member of Girl Scouts of GulfCoast Florida, and enjoying the fine arts. Currently art deco is her favorite. Through Girl Scouting, Katie has been involved in the past three FL Creativity Weekends and has participated for two summers in the CEF/CPSI YouthWise™ Program. She is looking forward to being a part of the leadership team for FCW’s CEF YouthWise™ Program and also leading a mini activity.

Jane Goldwasser is President of New Directions Consulting, Inc. a qualitative research company specializing in new product development. In her spare time, she is on the Board of Directors of a newly re-aligned Girl Scout Council and chairs both their Fund Development and Board Development committees. She is a CPSI alum who,  having completed the Integrating Creative Leadership program, has put it to work in leading both PACE sessions and in working with CPSI Youthwise™.

Danny Gonzalez is a junior at Booker High School. He has attended the YouthWiseTM training for several years, completed the Sarasota Community Youth Development Training, serves on the Sarasota County Area Transit (SCAT) board, and is close to earning his Boy Scout Eagle Scout award.

Saturday: So you think you CAN'T dance? Connecting through Dance and Movement
Christina Gonzalez is a licensed mental health counselor and educator. She has been involved with education at many different levels and has been very active in the mental health and education fields in both the United States and in Mexico. Her work has encompassed many aspects of the mental health field including prevention, intervention, immigrant psychology, child welfare, substance abuse, disaster intervention, and much more. She currently works full time with children involved in the child welfare system due to abuse, abandonment, or neglect, and also teaches college courses in college writing, behavioral sciences/psychology, and health and human services administration. She also does professional editing, writing, and loves applications of research, focus groups, and program evaluation techniques to programs that make a difference for others in ways that can help bring the voices of everyone involved in the process to be heard. She is a dynamic and entertaining trainer and enjoys incorporating her love of creativity, art, dance, music, travel, and film into her psychotherapy and education work. She currently lives in Sarasota  and her most recent passion is exploring the world of dance.

Kitty is a lifelong learner who has been involved in education as a student (PreK through PhD) and professional for over fifty years. She has also made a lifelong commitment to community involvement and is passionate about applying creativity to make a positive difference in her own life and in the world. Currently Kitty is actively involved in the Creative Education Foundation. In January ’11 she began serving as Chair for the Board of Trustees. She is also a long-time leader at CPSI (Creative Problem Solving Institute)] and an advocate for and contributor to the development of the CEF YouthWise™ Program. Locally, she serves on the Board of GCC of US Committee for UN Women and is co-chairing the L2L Teen Program (Learners to Leaders) and is also active as a GS GulfCoast Florida volunteer. Kitty is the Chair for Florida Creativity Weekend and has been involved since it began in 2002. Sharing with family and friends both at home in Sarasota and in the North Carolina mountains, traveling and photography also bring her great joy. The tagline she wrote for herself at FCW 2009 is: ‘ I open doors in hearts and minds.

Anthony Hyatt is a violinist and multimedia performance artist from the Washington DC area whose interest is in the role and use of improvisation techniques in the creative process.  He is a teaching-artist for the nonprofit Arts for the Aging organization under whose auspices he presents interactive programs of music and movement at local senior centers and for whom he co-directs the Quicksilver senior citizen improv dance company.   Anthony is a master trainer of the National Center for Creative Aging and he is an artist in residence for the Georgetown Medical Center’s pediatric and cancer care programs.  Anthony is honored to be a colleague of the Creative Education Foundation and a leader for other affiliated international organizations like CREA in Europe and Mindcamp in Canada.  He does additional creativity consulting and facilitation work through his own organization which is called Moving Beauty.

Sherry worked most recently as the Director of Adult Development for the Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast Florida for the past eleven years and is now pursuing other interests. She began college majoring in physical education and then completed her degree in Organizational Development/Business Administration. Sherry ‘speaks’ fluent sign language and teaches First Aid and CPR for the American Red Cross. She is active in ASTD and is a volunteer with the Manatee Players. For 26 years, Kathy has worked with individuals, groups and organizations as a consultant, facilitator, mediator and trainer; encouraging their fullness and inherent capacity.

Co-Chair, Nancy's extensive work with Fortune 500 companies led to Seeds for Change, her program for empowering people in the midst of increasing change. Nancy custom designs programs for organizations in these turbulent times to increase employees' and teams' emotional intelligence, creativity, and peak performance. Nancy also coaches individuals and teaches teleclasses. She is a Trainer for Heartmath, a Charter Associate Partner of George Land's Leadership 2000, a trainer in thinking styles., Foundations of Productivity and is experienced in Leadership and Team Building training. In her free time Nancy studies and performs ballroom dancing, enjoys live theater, opera and cinema, and performs in community theater.  She goes scuba diving, travels and enjoys riding her Harley.  She is also active as a community volunteer with non-profit agencies and organizations. Suzie Nussel is a marketing consultant with more than 20 years’ experience in marketing strategy, brand management, marketing communications, and product innovation. Prior to starting her own business, Suzie worked for AOL, where she developed and launched new digital products for consumers, a $100-million business. The creative problem solving process has been integral to shaping how she approaches strategy and innovation. As an avid participant of CPSI for the past ten years, Suzie is passionate about CEF and helping others reach their potential. She has been actively working with CEF YouthWise, both in the US (2008-2010) South Africa (’07).

In his role as CEO of the Parent Education Program, Tom oversees a variety of strengths-based programs and a staff of 38. He is a consultant in Creative Problem Solving and Parent Education. He is co-author, with Bea Parnes, of Parenting Playfully, a book for parents of children from pre-natal to age three. He loves to hike, bicycle and kayak. Tom  is the father of two talented young adults Crystal and Gabriel.  Tom participated in the 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007 Creative Education Foundation YouthWise™ Program in South Africa and is a CEF Colleague and recipient of the Leadership Service and Commitment and Distinguished Leader Awards.

Gloria is a co-founder of the Creative Youth Leadership Program. She is widely experienced in the area of community organization, especially educational and social program design. While president of a board of education, Gloria co-designed its student assistance program, which has since been replicated in numerous school districts. She has developed and delivered, creativity and innovation programs for the Singapore Institute of Management in Singapore and for the Center for Entrepreneurship at Canisius College. She has also designed and delivered training to teachers and students in South Africa. Gloria holds a Master of Science degree in Creativity and Innovation.  When not designing and delivering programming, Gloria can be found spending time designing jewelry and learning to play the "blues" harmonica. www.creativeyouthleadership.org

Judy designs and oversees educational programs in Scottsdale, Arizona.  She has done training, served on district wide leadership teams and has presented at both national and international conferences.  With a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction, Judy is interested in research.  She embraces literacy, Differentiated Instruction, Learning Styles, and Brain-Based learning strategies. With training from Coaches Training Institute, she has added coaching to her life work.

 Having served as a leader at the Creative Problem Solving Institute for over 20 years, Creative Problem Solving has become an integral part of her personal and professional life. The passions in her life include her husband, her two children, teaching, yoga and gardening.

Worth Symphony and met her husband who was playing in the Houston Symphony.  After marrying they spent a year in Vienna, Austria, returned to Illinois where Alan earned a PhD in Chemistry and Anita taught band and PE in a country grade school near Urbana.  They ended up in New Jersey, had two sons in the mid 60's and Anita returned to school to find out what the heck to do with two growing boys.  The family spent a year in Brazil in 1976, where everyone became literate in Portuguese -- well, everyone, that is, but Anita, who could only talk a good game.  In retirement her favorite pass times are cooking, travel and photography.  She has recently developed an enthusiasm for Zen water coloring.

Ann grew up in New England and focused her academic studies in history.  Her professional work was largely educational in nature, in both school and public history settings.  Since retirement, she has tried to energize the right side of her brain and explore new avenues of creativity.  One path led to a newly-formed laughter yoga group, which has expanded an aspect of life that at times had been in short supply.
